When should I see a therapist? If you are committed to making personal changes for greater life satisfaction, then you are ready to seek therapy. Many people believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems” in order for therapy to be appropriate. This is not the case, anyone can benefit from therapy. Some even choose to come in for insight only.
What are some basic differences between counseling and coaching?Counseling delves into the past of an individual, to help in making the present better. On the other hand, coaching looks at present, to improve the future. Coaching is primarily to improve upon performance or skills whereas counseling is primarily to help resolve emotional problems and conflicts in interpersonal relationships. Counselors are trained to diagnose problems in a bid to help clients to resolve their mental and emotional conflicts while coaches are mainly concerned with goal setting and improving the present skill levels of the clients.
Does the information in questions 1 through 10 apply to S+EI coaching services? No, the information found on the FAQ page only applies to the psychotherapy and counseling services provided by Phil Woods, PsyD, LPC. What is Social and Emotional Intelligence? It is a form of intelligence that drives our success in work and in life and in our relationships with others. Social Emotional Intelligence is about being aware of ourselves and others, in the moment, and using that awareness to manage ourselves (our behavior, our responses to stressful or challenging situations), and manage our relationships with others. And the great news is, Social and Emotional Intelligence can be learned and strengthened throughout our lives!
